Attorney Trainings

In partnership with local bar associations and law firms, AFO offers legal and advocacy training for attorneys and legal workers in Ohio. In these trainings, Ohio Repro & Legal experts offer a trauma-informed, reproductive justice perspective on legal ethics and practice advice,

These trainings prepare experienced legal counsel to support abortion seekers, care professionals, and others criminalized for pregnancy outcomes. They will also provide avenues for newly engaged legal professionals to engage with the Ohio reproductive health community.

Allied Professional and Community Service Provider Education

In partnership with pro-bono counsel, AFO offers legal and advocacy training for allied professional and community service providers who may interact with abortion seekers or volunteers. These trainings prepare experienced community care providers to support abortion seekers and others criminalized for pregnancy outcomes. They will also provide avenues for newly engaged professionals and community service providers to engage with the Ohio reproductive health community.

Additional Readings on Pregnancy Criminalization

We already know that Ohio is one of the most criminalized states regarding punishing pregnancy outcomes. Second only to Texas, Ohio had nearly the highest number of criminal cases brought against individuals for their pregnancy outcomes 2000 to 2020 (If/When/How’s 2022 report). From police reports to the local news, a lot of the coverage around this topic is carceral & stigmatizing.

If you're looking for (really amazing) resources on pregnancy criminalization & how we talk about it, consider these!
